Our School

SOMS is home to approximately 650 students in grades 6-8. We are committed to meeting the unique needs of the early adolescent child, and acknowledge the importance of assisting students in their transition from childhood to adulthood. SOMS promotes academic excellence and the personal and social development of each student while affirming the importance of home, school and community connections.

Here are the main tools SOMS uses to communicate with families:

ParentSquare

Automated mass messaging service that sends email, text and robocalls
Used to remind families of upcoming events or share important information, mostly by email only
Student families are automatically subscribed and may login to customize their accounts
Current SOMS families who are not receiving ParentSquare notifications or who need to update contact information should call the school’s main office at (845) 680-1100
School ParentSquare notifications are for parents of current students and staff only

SOMS Daily Announcements

Used to share information about school news, enrichment and support opportunities and club meeting information
Daily Announcements are automatically emailed to all students and staff and to parents/guardians who subscribe to the SOMS Announcements Group in ParentSquare
